Celebrity muses and styles--What's yours?

I've realized that I've never ever talked about your celebrity muse and your style. And with back-to-school approaching (yes, it's more than a month away, but shopping can take a long time), finding your muse (and style!) is more important than ever. So sorry if you have to muddle through a very long post today.

Take into account that your celebrity muse should have: a) the same body type as you, b) the same skin tone/hair color as you, and c) the same style as you (duh!). A and B aren't necessary, but C definitely is.

There are a few different styles (may not be a lot, but that's cuz I'm a snob. Style does not mean gothic, emo, scene, or anything like that. That is just considered teenage casual[-ties].) Here is the first of the few recognizable ones:

1. Park Avenue Classy--You're not flashy, though you're label-conscious (though not in a bad way). The P.A.C. dresser knows what true style is. They sport the perfect Hermes scarf, the cutest Burberry trench coat, and only the best multi-ply cashmere. And the 2k diamond studs. Oh yes. Don't forget the studs.

The P.A.C. style girl is so not a label whore. That means Versace, Gucci, Fendi, and Prada are out--so trashy and flashy. They look for very understated, high-quality, basic clothes (that usually don't have the label stamped all over them), that may last for a long time.

Brands of note for the P.A.C. girl: Hermes, Chanel, Burberry, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, Uniqlo, J. Crew, Gap, etc.

Icons of note:
Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffany's

Gywneth Paltrow, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O., and Blair Waldorf (a bit too flashy, but then again, her idol is Audrey Hepburn).

See you on Monday, with a post on Preppy!

Site Promotion

Okay, so my friend Daniella has been nagging me sooo much to put her site on mine cuz she's been promoting my site all along...well, here it is.

http://www.freewebs.com/teenwritingcritic

Knock yourselves out, people. She says it's a teen writers' site.

And she says that she's gonna stop linking to this site if she doesn't get less than five guestbook signatures. So yeah, go visit that site.

Parents.

The really nice bag that I want.

I've been noticing that I have a lot of $ in my purse. Not to make people feel uncomfortable.

But the thing is, the boring $ in my purse can be used to buy something more fun-- maybe a Prada purse? How about a Palm Centro?

So I asked my parents. Here's how it went.

Parents: No way are you buying a $2,280 purse.

Me: But it's limited-edition! And it's made of leather! And my purse is ugly! And it's old! And I want a new one!

Parents: No, young lady. Not unless you have money to buy it yourself.

Me (taking out my money): I do have enough! Now can I please please buy it? Please?

Parents: (Pause). What will you do when you buy your Prada purse? Will you have any more money left over? No.

Me: But, so? I have enough right now!

Parents: We can't just teach you to spend, spend, spend. You have to work for your money, and you have to save it, too. You don't want to get bankrupt when you're older, right?

Me: *sigh*. I guess not. But I'm gonna get a job over the summer! And I can earn more money!

Parents: End of discussion. We'll see about that when you actually get a job.

(I, unlike Abby, don't have it made. Because she's lucky enough hopefully work at Neiman Marcus or whatever other boutique.)

YES! DAVID COOK WON! I'm doing my victory dance!

Talent wins out over looks, as many American Idol fans learned on Wednesday night. This was refreshing, because the voters looked past David Archuleta's "cuteness", and voted for David Cook, the one with an actually good voice. Though, David Cook messed up, like, six times in his song. Oh well. He won.
I guess all the guys in the U.S. finally got tired of listening to their crushes cooing, "Oh, he's sooo cute/dreamy/hot!" over and over again. Maybe that's why David Cook won by I think 12 million votes or 25 million votes. Either that, or people goosed the votes (meaning they voted over and over again for David Cook. haha.), like my friend, S. She's a hardcore American Idol fan, and she swore that she voted at least 75 times.
But even so, if David Archuletta fans like him for his looks and not his voice, why doesn't he become a male model instead? Just saying.

Obsession of The Week: Alison Sodul

OMG. Do you know what the band A Fine Frenzy is? Or who Alison Sodul is? Well, you should. Because everyone who's anyone knows that the band has been creating quite a stir lately...along with the bohemian-natural singers with naturally pretty songs, ex. Sara Bareilles (Love Song), Colbie Caillat (Bubbly), Leona Lewis (Bleeding Love), Journey (Don't Stop Believing), etc...
These singers have taught us that to be mega-successful, you don't have to dye your hair platinum blonde or go on scary-skinny diets like Nicole Richie.

Alison Sodul is naturally gorgeous. I love her hairstyles...anyone have any ideas on getting her look? She reminds me of some model or actress I've seen...hmm, can't think of the name now. Her voice is breezy and natural (singer for the band A Fine Frenzy), and her songs have an unusual beat. Poetry in motion.

Check out the music video for "Almost Lover"...Google it, because I don't know how to insert video on here. I couldn't get it out of my head after I heard the song. By the way: Cali girls, the pier she's walking on is no other than the awesome pier we hang 24/7 at: The Santa Monica Pier!!!!!! Luh-ve it!

David Archuletta is sooo annoying.

He is! He's annoying, and he can't sing. Girls like him 'cause he's cute.
(btw- when your 36-year old aunt has a stalker-like crush on him, you can tell that David Archuletta is someone you're not gonna vote for to win)
So I'll admit that this season of American Idol is really sucky.
Asia was kicked off, and so was Carly. I think I wanted Carly to win.
I'll tune in to the American Idol finale, just to see which David wins.
David Cook vs. David Archuletta.
Personally, I don't want either to win. I want a girl to win.
But anyways, I have to admit this is more exciting than the season with Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks. (Katharine should've won!)
Who are you rooting for?

- Abby

(but if I'm not mistaken, Ally likes Archuletta the best. Along with every other teenage girl in the country.)

I'm a Hippie/ Mean Girls Are Great Actresses

Anyway, have you ever wondered about the site title, Nice Girls/Mean Girls?

Well, it's Ally and me. Ally's a nice girl, and I consider myself a mean girl. And we're still great friends. Opposites do attract!

So the past week, I've been noticing how good at acting mean girls are...better than the general public.

Example 1: Mean girls are always good at Seven Up, or was that Two Thumbs Seven Up? Whatever. Anyways, we're good at that game.

Guess who stayed as one of the seven people-pickers for the longest time?

That's right, yours truly.

Because only mean girls and gossips can pick a person and look them in the eye, and deceive a whole roomful of people. This skill is useful for stabbing others in the back and acting all innocent about it. That's kinda depressing to think about, once I've thought about it.

Example 2: The card game MAFIA. It's when four people with Aces randomly dealt to them are the "Mafia", the four with Queens are "Doctors", and the four with Kings are "Sheriffs". Let's just say that during this game of MAFIA, there was a lot of backstabbing, frontstabbing, and all-around deception going on. So it cheers me up that I'm not one of the most hugest backstabbers.

Duh, it's more honorable to be a nice girl. But it's always more awesome to be a mean girl. ;)

Don't forget to read the post below this one.

I Love Juicy Gloss-ip

As in the words of Massie Block, "Ehmagawd."
Me and Abby are gonna create a real-life Glossip Girl business thing, but it won't be a daily gloss delivery. I'm pretty sure that most girls don't need 365 tubes of gloss. ;)
And it's not a Glossip Girl brand, nor is it our own. It won't be just a shipment of lip gloss though, because we plan to put every shipment in a cute cosmetics bag, with a shade of Essie nail polish, and some kewl (trendy) accessories. And it'll all be based on a theme:
June: Sugary sweet tooth theme
July: Summer/nautical theme

What do you think we should also include in the cosmetics pouches?
What themes should we have?
And any other comments in general?

Presence -- The Abigail Way

Okay, so there' a method for achieving the It Factor/ Presence. There's the right way, and then there's the Abigail Anonymiss way. The Abby Anonymiss way might not be entirely right, but it sure is a lot funner.

1. Lie on your back or in a comfortable position, on the floor. Make sure that there is no noise or distractions. Relax.

2. Close your eyes, and remember that the state you are in can change. Focus on nothing but your breathing.

3. Allow your breathing to fall in and out of your chest without interference. Notice where your breath starts to catch. Focus and allow your breath to "touch" that place until it opens up.

4. Now, focus on your face. Are you tense? Are you frowning? Pretend that all your oxygen is delivered into that space, until it relaxes. Repeat to the rest of your face.

5. Repeat throughout your body.

6. You should now be free of tensions. Open your eyes gently and look into a mirror. You may look different. Don't judge, but acknowledge the change.

7. You might also sound different, maybe calmer, more stable. Talk to a friend and see if they notice your change.

8. Whenever you feel tension coming back, take a deep breath in and exhale, releasing your tension.

Remember,

- Practice makes perfect. Everyone can have the It Factor. Only some can cultivate it. Only after months and months can anyone perfect it.

- Ever hear the phrase, "Poetry in motion"? That is what we are trying to achieve. We are trying to achieve a state of inner peace and gracefulness.

- Try to see if you can have natural, flowing motions. Don't be so stiff. Loosen up, and let go of your tension.

I guess that's the best I can explain it. =I
But if you have any questions, leave a comment. I'll respond.

Summer's Coming!

This is the time of year...when every girl starts to daydream about boating on the lake behind her home, about what she'll need for a vacation to the south of France, and where she'll go in New York (New York!). At least, that's what I'm daydreaming of.
Reality check.
Of course we have a lake behind our backyard (maybe that's why it's called a lakefront house?), but if your parents are anything like mine, they have to work, work, work.
So there goes the trip to France we originally planned.
I plan to do something worthwhile this summer, not like the previous summers when I had to stay at home with a nanny, but something more...fun.
Like getting a summer job at a boutique.
It sounds stupid and blue-collar, but I mean, it'll be cool. You get to get "trapped" in a store the equivalent of Ivanka Trump's whole closet, doing nothing but helping people pick out clothes and rearranging cashmere. And of course, if it's in a mall, you could go shopping on your "off" hours!
And don't forget the employee discount.
It'll be way better than getting an internship at a literary agency (can you say boring?), or volunteering at a vet's office (if I wanted to get diseased and flea-bitten, I'd go to South Africa, where they seriously need our aid).
I plan to go crazy with my credit card this summer and be forced to end up selling all the clothes on eBay. Hahaha.

What are you doing this summer?

Random Blog Post I Decided To Make

So, my birthday was 4/28...
Though my parents are getting me my present(s) this weekend. (A new half-a-wardrobe.)
We're going to Bebe (for a pair of black or white "knickers", their term for lounge sweats), Macy's for Adidas and Puma game shorts, Victoria's Secret PINK for their adorable roll-up sweatpants, White House Black Market for impulse shopping, Nordstrom's and Old Navy for preppy cardigans, American Eagle and Planet Funk for jeans, and Neiman Marcus for a Juicy charm bracelet and tees.
I need a tote, though.
What brands do you recommend for a new school tote? Help me and vote!

And if you chose "Other", please tell me what kind, in the comments.
Thanks!

It.

It.

"It" is a secret...a powerful one. "It" can catapult plain, unpopular girls into model-pretty populars. "It" has discovered models like Kate Moss and Twiggy- otherwise plain, average girls. "It" has ruined politicians, sealed the deal for about everything you can name.

So what is "It"?:
"It" is not a superpower, though it deserves to be one, since most people don't have "It". "It" is a secret, and only those who are worthy can have "It". "It" is also known as a presence. And with a presence, anyone can be unstoppable.

How can I have a presence?:
Easy. Just follow our next (almost) painless-to-follow blog post about having a presence. And yes, it's perfectly safe. No tattooing, blackmailing, or binging and purging involved.

Do you have a presence?:
What does it look like?

See ya tomorrow!

Writing Exercise Intro

So every week, we'll have a writing exercise. This is like writing a short story, based on a plot/story line we give you. Submit your work through the comments, and we will critique your writing. It doesn't have to be a whole, entire story, just a snippet of a scene with the characters.

We have only two guidelines: it has to follow our original planned plot. That means no emo poems if we asked for a girly short story scene. Also, the word count has to be 500 words, max. 500 words is one single-spaced page (and a snippet of another second page) on Microsoft Word. It is also exactly two double-spaced pages on Word.

Tips:

1. Spell-check! Enough said.
2. Check for grammar and punctuation marks.
3. The descriptions of the characters, and what each is wearing, should be a paragraph in all, maximum. That means no parts about how Jamie's "classy-but-bold, 2-karat diamond Gucci platinum horsebit cocktail ring glittered in the sunlight like the glassy surface of the cerulean, kidney-shaped pool." And if your readers are anything like me, they will forget the first part of the sentence before they finish the last part. So K.I.S.S.- Keep It Simple, Stupid. Because people like me are getting older by the minute. And we have better things to do than to read a long, boring story on a blog...though in my case, I don't.

If you feel uncomfortable submitting your work through the Comments section, fearing that some people might Copy + Paste your precious, then never fear! Just click on our profile, and email the story to us. We'll embed it with a anti- copy and paste code- (don't you love computer geeks?). Happy submitting!

PostScript- What is the whole point of writing exercises? Maybe because a lot of people here would like to get published as a writer. And others enjoy reading stories. It's a win-win sitch here. And writers need critiques to improve.

Contest Winner

Okay, so the contest didn't have as much entries as we expected. =(

So anyways, Sarah, I luvvveed your quote: My calendar's too full to date you.
I've never heard of that, and it sounds so awesome.
Thanks, everyone, for entering!

Scene Is Dead.

Yes it is. Died two years ago. At least in the trendy Los Angeles area. Here, people are either real preppy (no fitch or hollister for us!) or really hippie-retro-vintage.
Think big sunglasses, wild colors, highwaisted pleated skirts with granny cardigans. Anything that looks funky and from a vintage store. Big, bold bangles, and Forever 21 and Juicy Couture clunky necklaces in exchange for the elegant Chanel and Tiffany ones (for the hippies. the preps love chanel, but tiff's is for middle-class posers).
Ya know the wild, crazy, Teen Vogue spreads that you admire, but don't have the guts to wear? Yeah, well, most crazy-cool outfits in those pages are standard LA outfits.
Stores most of us shop at- vintage stores on Melrose and Rodeo, Juicy Couture, Forever 21, Marc Jacobs, Kitson, American Apparel, Fred Segal, Planet Funk, and the like.
Jean brands cali girls love: Seven, Blue Cult, True Religion, Genetic Denim, Citizens of Humanity, and Denim of Immortality.

I'll be posting a hippie-retro outfit on f.c.p. soon....

Crack Our Password

So I'm really bored. Let's have a Crack Our Password (C.O.P.) game.
(the answer isn't our real password ;] )

This works like a crossword puzzle, but the answers are based on current events.

1. The birthday of Suri Cruise, and how old she's turning.

(month/date, and age)

_ /_ _ _

2. Fiancee of Eli Manning. [Hint: I j'adore her name!]

(four letters, first name)

_ _ _ _

3. One of my favorite TV shows, showing tonight. Reality TV, with Heidi and Spencer (ewww hate Heidi; she's so fake...love Lauren). Bonus: the show's name is short for the Hollywood Hills.

(eight letters, two words)

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Smash together all three answers (delete the spaces) , and comment the complete 'password' below on the Comments section!

(If this activity goes well, I'll start giving hints for the real password- so you can hack into our account and start posting! =P )

Ashley Simpson: Pregnant

Okay, so of course Hollywood has seen a lot of stars get knocked up at young ages (ahem, Jamie Lynn Spears...you super-slut), but I (nor Hollywood) had seen this one coming. I was like, whoa, when I heard the news. Ashlee seemed so...unlikely to be pregnant. Especially since I was a devoted fan. Was.
The strange thing is that Ashlee knows perfectly well that her dad, Joe Simpson, doesn't approve of her fiance, Pete Wentz, member of the band Fall Out Boy. And then she gets pregnant with Pete's kid? Who in their right minds would do that?
She has a beautiful face (though thanks in part to a nose job), an amazing voice, a great body, and she's just gonna throw that all away?
Come on, Ashlee, don't think like your sister...who obviously doesn't think at all ("Chicken of the Sea? Is this real underwater chicken?" Of course nawt, you twit. It's canned tuna.)
And Pete Wentz, I can't imagine him being a dad. But then, I couldn't imagine that guy from Good Charlotte being a dad, either. But then, BAM, he went and had Harlow Winter Kate Richie Madden.
I, for one, am going to keep my fingers crossed that Ashley isn't pregnant. We don't want her to be one of those celebrity mothers who get knocked up, have a kid, and are never heard from again- at least, not in Hollywood.
Who's with me?

Plain Rude: Classless, Bitchy, Trashy, Ghetto, w/e you call it.

So if you scroll down and click on the comments for the contest, you'll find that someone has written something very rude, very tasteless, very classless on this blog. Next time, we WILL moderate comments, deleting ones that need to be. Hey, if you don't like this blog, why do you visit it anyway? If you have that much time on your hands to insult bloggers, how about you go and serve soup to the homeless or read to the blind?

So a note to the Snark On The Loose:

When you actually have the guts, how about commenting un-anonymously?
And puh-lease, only 12 year olds would write, "Go screw yourself."
More mature people write the F-word, or D-word.
But I guess the using the F-word, to you is "Go Fudge Yourself." Or "Go Freak Yourself."
Whatever you lil' 6th graders call it.

AWOL, MIA, w/e you call it.

I'm typing this on a really small keyboard on a palm treo, so yeah, this post won't have pictures, colored text, etc. I've been grounded from the computer, and just when I'm not, the computer shuts down. Oh yeah, great. Real great. But anyways, I saw a knockoff of this site. And another one. And another one. And I was like, wow. These people sure don't have ideas of their own. Pathetic slobs.
Let's have a contest, event, whatever you call it. The thing you have to do is to come up with the most clever, most tee shirt-worthy phrase you know. You can enter more than one phrase; actually, we encourage more than one phrase/quote/saying per entry. The phrase does not have to be unique, but don't post anything someone else has already posted. Contest entry phrases should be posted in the comments section of this blog. And remember- don't post your entry as anonymous! Use the name/url option instead when posting. Contest ends, idk, about in a week? Winner(s) will be announced in another posting- I will reveal further details once the winners have been picked. I haven't chosen a prize, but it really depends on the number of entries this contest gets! Invite your friends to join the contest, because the minimum amount of people needed, for the winner to earn a prize, is 12! And, please don't send in multiple submissions. Anyone doing so will be disqualified.
Good Luck!

Lesson By Example #1: The Competitive Overachiever

Not to be mean, but everyone hates "Kory". She is this super-smart girl, a striver. She excels at violin, kicks butt in art class, and is an all-around genius. In all fields except social/political relationships. In that field, she is basically, a retard.
Kory doesn't know how to interact with people. She has this illusion that everyone is competing with her, that everyone wants to sabotage her. As if!
Me and my friends have tried to make friends with her, just out of pity. We try to sit next to her during lunch, but she moves to another table. It's like she wants to be a lonely oddball. It's like she's afraid that some of her "special-geniusness" will rub off on us.
Kory is super-secretive. She doesn't tell us her grades, except when it's like, way better than ours, and then she flashes it repeatedly under our noses, all the time, trying to look modest and failing horribly at it. And when we have better grades than her, she acts moody.
She's a stuck-up bitch. There. I said it.
And in the future, when she goes to work, nobody will care how many, I don't know, share-holding clients she has earned for the hedge-fund managing corporation. All they will care is that, again, she is a stuck-up bitch. That way, she'll suffer the consequences, by not having friends. And as everyone knows, having connections is very important (I found out that a friend's dad was a writer, and he had a literary agent, and that way, I got my foot in the publishing door. And btw- I'm not an adult posing as a teen. I managed to write a book at this young age of....anyway, getting off-topic. As usual.).
Lesson learned? Don't be competitive. Just like if the cake is too small to be shared, bake a bigger cake. You'll reap twice the number of rewards. And some glamour/popularity/friends along the way.

So. Recap of this week.

I'd have to say, the poll was...interesting. Most people didn't watch/didn't care about Disney Channel, and I'd have to give you all a round of applause. I'm just so sick of reading articles about Nick Jonas + Miley Cyrus= ♥ ?, and I'm sooo happy that most people feel that way. I participated in Earth Hour, the good little geek/Greenpeace/PETA girl that I am, lol. Did you?

-Ally

Ally, I totally agree with your opinion, but...I have to be biased, because I know a producer (or is it writer?) for the Suite Life. But hey, this is LA, where everyone knows everyone worth knowing. Anyways, I added some photos of the Santa Monica/Beverly Hills area....to brighten up the site. And FYI, I didn't do Earth Hour. Do you know how hard it is to play the piano in the dark? Just saying.

Changes

Deleted the chat box. Anyways, first portion of my story.

I could feel Tatiana Ornokovsky looking interestedly at me, as if I were a limited-edition Juicy Couture tracksuit. I knew she had her head tilted to one side, a curtain of burgundy-auburn brown hair falling against the side of her head, glowing from the shafts of afternoon sunlight spilling from the windows. I knew all this, because I sat close to her in class, and had also watched her from my lowly “scholarship kid” spot in the cafeteria. I had spent countless afternoons analyzing what she did, that made her so popular, so likable. I pretended not to notice her staring, instead taking my notes on Mrs. Garcia’s lecture of the accomplishments of the Roman Empire. I knew I was being sized up. Today was the day that her clique, that most popular girls in the 9th grade, would choose a new member (Summer Lynstrom had moved to Albany, ditching her friends back in Miami). Minutes later, a folded piece of Smythson of Bond Street stationary landed on my scratched-up, faux-wood desk. I shoved it under my notebook when Mrs. Garcia’s sharp falcon eyes rested on me. I’d read it later, maybe after class.
Mrs. Garcia sighed when she realized that many of her students were not really paying attention. “Fine,” she said. “Mrs. Garcia will allow you the remainder of the period to work on your homework. You may work in partners, but silently.”
And then she shuffled off in her brown, sensible-heeled loafers to her desk, where she undoubtedly would be going on the computer to her Myspace account.

Anyone can add to this story. Send me the continuation via email (it's like a chain letter). Anyways, everything here is copyrighted. So don't worry about plagiarizing. We'll be keeping this post forever in case it is needed as court evidence.

Ugh.

Boy Problems

layout pic 4 pink 2
Yes. Every girl has them. I've been getting really frustrated over a guy the last month, and this week, I've decided to just let it go. Because:

1. He's not worth it anyway. If he doesn't like me, oh well. His loss.

2. He's gotta be BLIND to go out with that girl. At least I don't cake on an inch of foundation every day to hide less-than-perfect blotchy skin, which Alexandriana does. And also, she has a dumb name.

3. I'll show him what he's missing. I'll be naturally pretty, popular, cute, and I'll revenge-date his friend.

4. I'll learn from my mistakes.

Any ways you have to get over him? Share.

New Features

We'll be adding more features: a message board/chat box. A poll, too. A story series, and what else? More pictures. Definitely. We all love pretty pictures; who doesn't? lol
Anyways, from now on, my posts will be a teal color, and Ally's will be the signature pink.

"Ahem, testing, 1, 2, 3. Testing, 1, 2, 3."

We want feedback. To you visitors out there, could you please take two minutes and answer these questions we have? Thanks. We're trying to improve this site.

1. Should we keep posting popularity advice? It seems like nobody actually reads it, based on the number of comments left every time.

2. Should we have more team members? Right now, the team is only me and Abby. Oh, and soon-to-be member Hannah.

3. What subject(s) should we post more on, and what should we post less on? Celebrity gossip is a fave, I think.

4. How many times weekly do you visit here?

5. What posts do you suggest we have? A story series? Anything?

Also, please help spread the word about this blog. Thank you sooo much in advance.

Our Spin-Off/Sister Site

Hey! We have a sister site now, called firstclasspass.blogspot.com
Trends, outfits, etc.
This site is like polyvore, but way more organized. And way less blinding.
(You've gotta admit, some of the outfits on polyvore.com are pretty horrible.)
Ch-ch-Check it out!

Popularity, part II

Okay, first of all, to get things clear: don't believe people when they say to "be yourself." That's not possible, according to my psychologist aunt. She said that a person is always changing, and trying something new is a part of discovering themselves. And once you think of it, how exactly can you be yourself? Play in sandboxes and wear Mary Jane flats like when you were five? Knock out your two front teeth, arrange your hair like a rat's nest, and tease your next-door neighbor/classmate like when you were eight? No, not likely. Isn't that still a part of "being yourself", though? So that's not exactly good advice.

Before you start, you need to check yourself. Are you hygienic? Are you too stuck-up? Are you too shy? Make changes as necessary. Remember, a first impression can work wonders.

Step #1. First of all, check out the popular girls in your school. What they wear, how they talk, all that. Not stalker-worthy, but in a discreet, un-obsessive way. If they don't seem like girls you'd like to hang out with, forget about it. If they do, though, then it's time to plan the next step.

Step #2. Try to have the same interests as [any of] them. If a girl in the clique loves singing, try to take up chorus. Ditto if she loves tennis. Dress somewhat like them, but have a somewhat more different style.

Step #3. Talk to them! Mostly everyone cannot resist a friendly smile and a good nature. Hint: try to approach the lowest-ranking member of the clique if you can. They are usually the friendliest.

Hints and Tips:

- Don't appear desperate. At least, not when you first meet the clique. The girls expect you to hang on their every wrod, squeal when they invite you to sit at their table, get thrilled when they invite you to shopping during the weekend. As with guys, play hard-to-get. When you know them more, it's then safe to let off your guard.

- Don't go along with what they think. Sure, it's okay to take their advice, such as wearing a Juicy Couture cami instead of the Gap one, but if they pressure you to do anything bad, it's time to say buh-bye to them.

Remember:

- Some girls may not like you. Who cares? At least your friends do, and that's what matters.

- Some members of the clique may not take kindly to you. Have your tough skin on. Laugh off their insults, but make sure at least you have one "safety net" true friend in the clique. The only fool their making out of the insults, are themselves.

Tell us how it goes!

Hey Everyone! Sorry for not updating!

Well, it was that time of year again- near the time of midterm report cards. Me and Ally were scrambling to get the A's we wanted (for me, if I didn't, you can count on my parents to punish me. Severely.) So four extra-credit projects and a lot of sucking-up-to-teachers later, we're back! At least, I am. I'll have to remind Ally to update also.

Ally- if you're reading this, you need to update. Seriously. Like, right NOW.

Popularity

First of all, being popular is like being a businesswoman, or a politician. It's being cunning. It's being quick, being up-to-date on the latest gossip.
Like a businessperson, you'll have to sell your "customers" (in the case, your soon-to-be adoring fans), their weaknesses, their insecurities. You have to make them believe that you're cool. You have to make them believe that they'll be better, by being friends with you. You should market yourself as a confidence-booster.
"So how do I start?"
You start, by deciding:

1. nice girl/mean girl?

If you picked nice girl:
NO. That's the wrong answer. People are greedy. They're selfish. They think of themselves, and they suffer from jealousy and envy. That's why there exists the Seven Deadly Sins. As quoted by Niccolo Machiavelli in "The Prince" (great book, btw), "Men..will not fail to turn on the prince[ss] who is loved. They will...hesitate to turn..on the ones that are feared..." You'll be picked up, and cast aside as fast as the short-lived high-waisted pants trend.

If you picked mean girl:
NO. Wrong answer. People will respect you to your face, but they'll gossip and talk trash about you behind your back. In the end, you won't have any real friends.

What is the right answer, then?
The right answer, is a combination of the two. You can be downright snarky to everyone behind their back, but it won't matter if you're nice to them to their face. You can be usually nice, but if anyone offends you, or disrespects you, remember: firstly, use politics. Be nice about it. And if that doesn't work, it doesn't hurt at all to take revenge. Vengeance is sweet.

When I or Ally feel like it, we'll post some more. Oh, and, we're teaching you the basics before jumping into How To Be Charismatic.

ciao!

Style Advice- Trust Us On This

For all of the fashion mishaps out there I have some crucial news to deliver to you!

Take this as a warning: do NOT wear/use vera bradley bags (yeah, her name isn't even worth capitalizing). Floral patterns are IN this spring, but NOT floral patterns that looked lIke someone has puked them up...ewwww! I went to the website and saw it and was like WTF. It looked horrid like something my grandma picked out for me in the 1900's while my grandma was on drugs. Actually my grandma never ever dresses so horrible so sorry gram. But that stuff is absoulutely sinful its grotesque big time. So if u wanna be cute, trendy, and fashionable, STAY AWAY FROM VERA BRADLEY.

-Ciao girls! Luv Ally

I totally agree with you, Ally. I also hate Vera Bradley, because it looks like something vintage and hippie gone wrong. As in, MUTATED. DEFORMED. But I'll have to say to the cool girls out there: ONLY CALIFORNIA GIRLS CAN RIGHTFULLY WEAR HOLLISTER. What is the point of advertising, say, a Santa Monica Hollister surf shack, if you've never been there? (And for you less-fortunate girls out there, who've never been to California, I'm sorry to say that there is no actual "Hollister surf shack" on Santa Monica Beach. There is, though, a Rusty's Surf Shack). Wearing those location-printed screen tees is just like wearing those cheesy I Heart NY shirts. Would you wear the NY shirts? Thought not.

Featured product

Yes, Yesterday Abby forgot to give you the info on the latest product she loves....
the DuWop Second Sin Lip Venom! Here's the review:

DuWop Second Sin Lip Venom is absolutely AMAZING. Because of the cinnamon, wintergreen, and ginger oils used in it, the circulation to your lips will be boosted dramatically. I know you couldn't care less about what I say in geek-speak, yadda yadda yadda, but in English it means: naturally redder and bigger lips. The DuWop Lip Venom product is actually the first lip-plumping gloss made! When I used it, the effect lasted for hours!

Anyway, Second Sin Lip Venom isn't the only kind out there. Go to sephora.com, or eluxury.com, to see all the different kinds!

Information:

- $27.00 for 4.4 ml

- Ingredients:
Polyisobutene, Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Oil, Avocado (Persea Gratissima) Oil, Sunflower (Helianthus Annuus) Oil, Methoxypropanediol, Ethylhexyl Palmitate-Tribehenin-Sorbitan Isostearate-Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Flavors, White Tea Leaf (Camellia Chinensis) Extract, Pomegranate Seed (Punica Granatum) Extract, D&C Red 7 CA Lake.

Gossip: Abby's Opinion

Is Miley Cyrus a good role model for her millions of adoring fans? Shanica Knowles, a Hannah Montana co-star, says "Definitely." - from People.com

While some fans might say, "She's the best!", I beg to differ, along with the rest of the world. The Hannah Montana show is aimed at preteen girls, so if you're a high-school freshman, you need to see a shrink. Hannah Montana is just another brand/show that Disney is trying to promote, making it a "superstar". Compared to the real singers, the Hannah Montana concept just falls short. On its face. Miley's "songs" are not all that deep. What can you make of this one?

"Who Said"

I'm more than just
You're average girl
I'd like to turn me up
And show the world

Cause some can talk the talk
This girl just wants to rock
I'm individual
I'm not like anyone

I can be glamorous
Just like you see in all the magazines
I can be cool as ice
Or anything I want to be

Who said, who said I can't be Superman
I say, I say that I know I can
Who said, who said I won't be President
I say, I say you ain't seen nothin' yet

Go on and make some noise

Every girl has a choice
To lead their own parade
I do it my way

I can be soft and sweet
Or louder than the radio
I can be sophisticated
Or totally go out of control

Who said, who said I can't be Superman
I say, I say that I know I can
Who said, who said I'm not electrified
I say, I say

There's no holdin' back
Stayin' right on track
Cause you control the game
So let them know your name

No limitations on imagination
Imagine that

Who said, who said I can't be worldwide
I say, I say time is on my side
Who said, who said i can't be ten feet tall
I say, I say that i can have it all

Not deep, at all. The song just repeats itself, over and over again. Yeah, we got that the first time. No need to repeat that again. Miley really does have a great singing voice, but I'd really like to know who exactly is the songwriter.

Also, the Hannah Montana brand is a sell-out. I see people wearing Hannah Montana screen shirts, from Target or Walmart. And yet, when I go into Neiman Marcus, I can see Tweety Bird charm bracelets. Where, exactly, is Disney going to go? Upscale or downscale?
